Glad’s House is delighted to be representing Kenya as part of Street Child United’s Global Partner Network.
In March 2014, nine inspiration young men aged 14 – 16 who had previously lived on the streets travelled from Glad’s House, Mombasa to Rio de Janerio, Brazil to represent their country. Team Kenya were part of 26 teams from around the world playing football and advocating for the rights of children on the streets.
Victor Wanyama the Kenyan international currently playing for Southampton has already thrown his weight behind our campaign to raise the money to go to Rio. His football talent got him through some difficult times in Africa and he’s now playing at the highest level of club football, the UEFA Champions League as well on the international stage for his country.
“I believe the Street Child World Cup can change a lot of teenagers lives around the world. I wish Glad’s House all the best in the competition – they deserve every bit of success in everything they do”
Victor Wanyama, February 2013
