tiring stuff this learning

Glad’s House is working with local schools to ensure that when ready (after they have completed their reintegration programme) children rejoin the education system. The process of returning to a normal life from the street is a process which needs a lot of support.  Ex-street children face real stigma and challenges – and coming together frequently is really important in terms of mutual-support; for our social workers to monitor individual children’s progress; and also because it eases the transitions.

And the whole goal of our work is to achieve sustainability. For the child who lived in a perilous, unsustainable fashion on the street to now live a life with prospects in the bosom of family and community.

The children live with local foster families, who we pay for this service with food.  This is all closely monitored by our team of social workers.
