The Mombasa Olympic Youth Organisation (MOYO) was established by a former Kenyan Boxer, Fred (Bokey) Achola. He wanted to give children and young people in his community support to avoid going to the streets. He is using sport to reach these children and young people, to give them information, motivation and support to help them steer clear of drugs and crime and avoid HIV infection.
So far we have been able to start a boxing team, (also known as the Havana Amateur Boxing club), Football teams, basketball teams, volleyball teams and Tae kwondo. All work with both girls and boys. MOYO are desperately short of any real kit’ so if you have any donations they will be truly welcomed. (Any thoughts/expertise on low cost transport to Kenya would also be extremely useful). In August 2006 Glad’s House sponsored Bokey to attend a boxing coaching course (organised by the Cuban Boxing Team) in Nairobi – he is now a certified coach and works with the Kenyan National Team.
Our Football Development programme is ongoing with our now annual 2 week ‘football extravaganza’ becoming increasing popular and an important part of the sporting calendar in Mombasa. Run by our Football Development Officer (& Trustee), John McGlasson – this comprises of a two week football tournament plus John and his team run training sessions for local football coaches who support our ‘papasa’ programme.viagra 6 free samples http://www.aopa.co.uk/?kdb=21 how long does viagra last
