Street Children Family Reintegration
Where reintegration is successful, a dynamic aftercare and follow-up programme targets children who have lived on the streets and who are now living with their families. Our social workers will meet the child and other family members at least once a month in the first year.
Where it isn’t suitable to reintegrate children with family, we work with children and young people to help them re-establish themselves and to go on to live independently when they reach adulthood. We offer basic education and skills training amongst other things.
We offer on-going support through personal coaching and vocational training or entry into one of our ‘enterprise schemes’. We also work with families and provide guidance as well as talks and discussion groups.
We work with young people leaving our programmes to ensure they have the necessary life skills to live independently. We look at skills such as health and hygiene, budgeting and cooking.
For children and young people who cannot return to their family/extended family but who want to re-establish a connection to their families we make initial contact and work with families to strengthen relationships..
